HANDMADE RED OAK FOUNTAIN PEN

This fountain pen is constructed from a lovely piece American Red Oak with gold coloured plated fittings. The pen is “pillared” so that the cap can be screwed to the back of the pen to extend it for anyone who likes to use a longer pen (or not lose the cap!). It comes complete in a velvet pouch for protection (or black velvet pen case as an added extra).

About This Timber Pen

All of my wooden pens are made from recycled, repurposed or sustainable timber. Further information regarding the type of wood this pen is made from will be contained in the information sheet. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Any wood species, that is not listed as being recycled or repurposed comes from sustainable stock and is not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Widespread throughout Eastern United States Oaks they are the most abundant species group growing in the Eastern hardwood forests. Red oaks grow more abundantly than white oaks. The red oak group comprises many species, of which about eight are commercial. The colour of Red Oak varies from white to a slight pinkish/brown. The wood is similar in general appearance to white oak, but with a slightly less-pronounced figure due to the smaller rays. The wood is mostly straight-grained, with a coarse texture.

Red oak is hard and heavy and can be stained to a golden finish, with a wide range of finish tones. And it is used for furniture, flooring, architectural millwork, doors, kitchen cabinets and has many more uses
