About The Timber
There are two main types of lauan: Red Lauan (which you pen is made from) and White Lauan. The distinction between them lies primarily
in their coloration; red lauan has a reddish-brown hue while white lauan boasts a lighter shade. Lauan trees grow impressively tall and can
reach heights of up to 200 feet or more with diameters ranging from 3 to 6 feet.
Lauan wood is a versatile and popular choice for various applications due to its durability and affordability. The wood’s strength, lightness,
and resistance to moisture, decay and termites make it suitable for indoor and outdoor use. One of the most common uses of Lauan wood is
in construction projects as framing material or plywood sheets.
In interior design, Lauan is used extensively in making cabinets, doors, flooring, panelling, and other decorative items such as picture
frames. Lauan plywood is also ideal for creating furniture pieces like chairs and tables since it can be easily shaped into various forms
without cracking or splitting.

This pen is constructed from timber. Being a natural material each piece is unique in colour and figuring, which will slightly change colour
and darken in time. The pen may be smooth to the touch or you may be able to feel the grain, blemishes and faults in the wood under the
finish. Pens that are really smooth, with no blemishes are made of plastic!
Each pen is made using sustainable or recycled timber and top quality components. Once turned and sanded, to give the best possible
protection it has up to ten coats of finish and then a polish. It comes complete in a velvet sleeve, full instructions on the care of the pen and
a certificate of authenticity, confirming that I have turned the pen personally and in most cases the date it was constructed.

The
body
is
made
from
of
the
many
Mahoganies,
probably
Lauan,
that
has
been
reclaimed
from
an
old
window.
The
item
has
a
hexagonal
shaped
cap
in
in
Gun
Metal.
The
gold
nib
has
an
iridium
point.
This
pen
is
complete
and
ready
to
post.
This
pen
is
not
pillared
so
the
cap
cannot
be
extended
with the cap.

cuts
of
timber
or
pieces
that
are
not
suitable
due
to
faults
or
worm
and
are
more
or
less
of
no
use,
being
too
small
to
make
anything
from.

is

odd
pieces
