Laburnum Hand Made Ballpoint Pen – This superb wooden Handmade Ballpoint Twist Pen is constructed from a beautiful piece of Laburnum that has lovely figuring with Chrome / 24 Carat Gold coloured fittings. It comes fitted with a Parker G2 style refill. The mechanism is bidirectional so the pen nib can be extended by turning the top finial clockwise or counterclockwise. This pen you are buying is the one in the picture and is ready to post.

About The Timber
Laburnum is a hard, dense wood that works well with hand and machine tools. It turns well and can be cut into fine veneers. It is a hardwood and the heartwood colour ranges from almost white to a darker violet brown, darkening with age. Clearly defined sapwood is a pale yellow. Laburnum’s dark colour make it suitable for use as an ebony substitute, particularly within its natural range in Europe. Wide rays can exhibit ray fleck on quartersawn surfaces. End grain slices of Laburnum are sometimes used in making a decorative “oyster veneer” pattern for use in furniture. Grain is usually straight, with a fine, even texture. Good natural lustre.

General Details
Every pen is unique each being made using sustainable, reclaimed, recycled timber or resin and fitted with top quality components. Once turned and sanded, to give the best possible protection it has numerous coats of finish and then a polish. To protect you pen it comes in a velvet sleeve, unless otherwise stated, full instructions on the care of the pen and a certificate of authenticity, confirming that I personally turned the pen and the date it was constructed.
This pen body is made from timber which, being a natural material, makes each piece unique in colour and figuring, and will slightly change colour and darken in time. The pen may be smooth to the touch or you may be able to feel the grain, blemishes and faults in the wood under the finish. Pens that are really smooth, with no blemishes are made of plastic!
