Really Nice Mid Range Fountain Pen
My mid-range fountain pens are of a higher grade of fittings than standard fountain pen. The pen writes beautifully, is well balanced and of a classic design. This one is made from a recycled piece of Yew with Black Chrome fittings with an accented Centre Ring and Cabochon in Chrome that compliments this timber beautifully. Like a lot of best quality pens the finished pen is not “pillared” so the cap cannot be fixed to the back of the pen. The nib has an iridium point and comes with an ink converter, cartridges and is in a black velveteen pouch (or a Hard Velvet Pen Case as an added extra). Please check all of the pictures as the pen being sold is the one in the picture and ready to post. Please note that wood is a natural material and can have faults which can sometimes be felt even after numerous coats of finish.

About Your Timber
Despite how hard and dense Yew it is a softwood (“hardwood” and “softwood” does not refer to the texture but the type of tree). It has a good straight grain and a yellowish colour. Yew is one of the oldest living trees and are often found in Churchyards, where is a number of cases are older than the actual church itself. It is thought that they can live to 3000 years old although those over 1500 years are more common. It was the main timber used for Longbows during the Middle Ages. It has also been used for fine furniture and cabinet making, particularly as a veneer.
According to popular belief, it was beneath a Yew tree, aged over 2500 years old, at Runnymead called the Ankerwycke, that King Henry VIII courted Anne Boleyn and in some versions of the story he might have proposed to her under this tree.
