Kentucky Coffee Tree Fountain Pen
This Fountain Pen is constructed from a nice piece of Kentucky Coffee Tree and Rose Gold Coloured Plated Fittings. The pen is “pillared” so that the cap can be screwed on the back of the pen to extend it for anyone who likes to use a longer pen. The nib has an iridium point. This pen has been made and is ready to post. It comes complete with a ink cartridges, a converter so that bottled ink can be used and in a velvet pouch for protection.

About the Timber
The Kentucky Coffee Tree is so named because early settlers (particularly in the state of Kentucky) used roasted seeds from this tree to make a coffee substitute.
The heartwood is an orange to reddish brown with the sapwood is a yellowish white sapwood and is very narrow and well defined against heartwood. It is very similar in appearance to Ash and Oak. The grain is straight and porous, with a coarse, uneven texture with some parts being hard and light, given the appearance of the finish not haven taken, which is not the case.
The Coffee Tree has good working characteristics and nearly every machining operation can be done with good results and it finishes well. It is mostly used for furniture, cabinet making and fence posts.

More Details
This pen is unique and made using sustainable or recycled timber or resin and top quality components. Once turned and sanded, to give the best possible protection it has a number of coats of finish and then a polish. It comes complete in a pouch, full instructions on the care of the pen and a certificate of authenticity, confirming that I have turned the pen personally and the date it was constructed.
This pen is constructed from timber. Being a natural material each piece is unique in colour and figuring, which will slightly change colour and darken in time. The pen may be smooth to the touch or you may be able to feel the grain, blemishes and faults in the wood under the finish. Pens that are really smooth, with no blemishes are made of plastic!

All of my pens are UK post free and are usually dispatched within two days by 1st Class Mail (24 Tracked). For orders outside the UK please see the overseas postage charges. These will be sent by Tracked Royal Mail International Standard. Also be aware that the buyer is responsible for any additional import and custom taxes.
