English Maple Fountain Pen

Mediterranean Olive Wood Fountain Pen One of the most beautiful woods for a Fountain Pen is Mediterranean Olive Wood. This particular pen has 24 carat Gold plated fittings. Also the finished pen is “pillared” meaning that the cap can be screwed on the back of the pen. This will extend it for anyone who likes to use a longer pen. The nib has an iridium point and the pen comes in a black velveteen pouch (or the chance to have a black velvet pen box with white and blue interior as an added extra). In addition three ink cartridges to get you started.

About the Timber

There are many species of Maple and unlike most other hardwoods, the sapwood of maple is most commonly used rather than its heartwood. The Sapwood colour ranges from nearly white to an off-white/brown cream colour sometimes with a reddish or golden hue. The grain is generally straight but may be wavy it has a fine, even texture. It is fairly easy to work with both hand and machine tools. It turns and finishes well.

Being durable it is sometimes used for flooring, musical instruments (used by both Fender and Gibson in their guitar construction), cutting boards, butcher blocks (as well as Beech in the UK), workbenches and other turned objects and specialty wood items.

Detail

This pen is unique and made using sustainable or recycled timber or resin and top quality components. Once turned and sanded, to give the best possible protection it has a number of coats of finish and then a polish.

It comes complete in a pouch also full instructions on the care of the pen. In addition a certificate of authenticity, confirming that I have turned the pen personally also the date it was constructed.

Delivery

All of my pens are UK post free and are usually dispatched within two days by 1st Class Mail (24 Tracked). For orders outside the UK please see the overseas postage charges. These will be sent by Tracked Royal Mail International Standard. Also be aware that the buyer is responsible for any additional import and custom taxes.
