Laburnum Fountain Pen
This Fountain Pen is constructed from a lovely piece of recycled Laburnum and 24 carat Gold Plated Fittings. The pen is nicely balanced and pleasant to use. The finished pen is “pillared” meaning that the cap can be screwed on the back of the pen. This is ideal for anyone who likes to use a longer pen. It comes in a black velveteen pouch to protect it (or black velvet pen box with white and blue interior for an extra charge).

About the Timber
Laburnum is a hard, dense wood that works well with hand and machine tools. It turns well and can be cut into fine veneers. It is a hardwood and the heartwood colour ranges from almost white to a darker violet brown, darkening with age. Clearly defined sapwood is a pale yellow. Laburnum’s dark colour make it suitable for use as an ebony substitute, particularly within its natural range in Europe.
Wide rays can exhibit ray fleck on quartersawn surfaces. End grain slices of Laburnum are sometimes used in making a decorative “oyster veneer” pattern for use in furniture. The grain is usually straight, with a fine, even texture. Good natural lustre.
More Details
Each pen is made using sustainable or recycled wood and top quality components. Once turned and sanded, to give the best possible protection it has up to ten coats of finish and then a polish.
It comes complete in a velvet sleeve and full instructions on the care of the pen. Also a
certificate of authenticity, confirming that I have turned the pen personally and the date it was constructed.
This pen is constructed from timber. Being a natural material each piece is unique in colour and figuring, which will slightly change colour and darken in time.
The pen may be smooth to the touch or you may be able to feel the grain, blemishes and faults in the wood under the finish. Pens that are really smooth, with no blemishes are made of plastic!

All of my pens are UK post free and are usually dispatched within two days by 1st Class Mail (24 Tracked). For orders outside the UK please see the overseas postage charges. These will be sent by Tracked Royal Mail International Standard. Also be aware that the buyer is responsible for any additional import and custom taxes.
