Driftwood Rollerball Pen
A Fantastic “Driftwood” Rollerball Pen made from timber off cuts in Blue and White Resin and 24 carat Gold Plated fittings that compliments this pen nicely. The pen is NOT actually made from driftwood but very small wood offcuts which would otherwise be burnt or thrown away. The effect given is of driftwood floating on the sea.
The finished pen is “pillared” meaning that the cap can be screwed on the back of the pen to extend it for anyone who likes to use a longer pen and comes in a black velveteen pouch to protect it (or black velvet pen box with white and blue interior for an extra charge).
Please check all of the pictures as the pen being sold is the one in the picture and ready to post.

HOW YOUR PEN IS CONSTRUCTED
I make my “driftwood” resin pen blanks by first mixing blue and white dye with clear resin which is then left for a few hours until the mixture thickens. At this stage they are now ready to be poured into a mould. The reason for leaving them to thicken is that if they were poured straight away the colours would mix to make one colour.
By leaving them to thicken they should separate, keeping the blue and white resins separate, although there is no guarantee that that this will happen as expected. Before the mixture is poured the pieces of timber are placed into the mould and then the resin poured over them and a cover placed on the mould to stop that wood pieced floating to the surface.
After about a week the resin has cured and can be released from the mould. The block can then be cut to size and is ready to turn on the lathe.
