This stunning Black Walnut fountain pen is constructed from a lovely piece of timber with Gold plated fittings. The pen is “pillared” so that the cap can be screwed on the back of the pen to extend it for anyone who likes to use a longer pen. It comes complete in a velvet pouch for protection (or black velvet pen case as an added extra).

About This Timber Pen
All of my wooden pens are made from recycled, repurposed or sustainable timber. Further information regarding the type of wood this pen is made from will be contained in the information sheet. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Any wood species, that is not listed as being recycled or repurposed comes from sustainable stock and is not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
It would be hard to overstate Black Walnut’s popularity among woodworkers. Its working characteristics coupled with its rich brown coloration puts the wood in a class by itself. The heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Sapwood from this wood is pale yellow-grey to nearly white. The grain is usually straight but can be irregular with some nice patterns formed and occasionally spalted.
Black Walnut is normally easy to work provided the grain is straight and regular. It machines well and also finishes well. It has a number of uses including furniture, cabinetry, gunstocks, interior panelling and turned items to name a few.
